Rosa Lerchundi Ariceta was born in Zarautz, in the Spanish province of Gipuzkoa, in October 1965.
After graduating from the University of the Basque Country with a degree in Information Studies in 1998, she embarked on her career at the Basque television agency 5W, working as a correspondent for the news division of broadcaster Telecinco.
In 1999 she joined the head office in Madrid as a political affairs correspondent. In that position, she was responsible for covering the information released by the Presidency of the Government, as well as reporting on international events such as Ibero-American Summits, European Council meetings, official visits and high-level bilateral meetings.
In 2004, she became a parliamentary affairs correspondent, reporting from the Congress of Deputies, Spain’s lower house. In February 2007, she was appointed head of national news at Telecinco. During her time in that position, she oversaw news coverage of major events in recent Spanish history.
She was appointed Director of Communications of the Secretariat-General of the Royal Household of His Majesty The King by virtue of Royal Decree 747/2025 of 29 August.
